We give insights on ux training Kenya, product design Kenya, design & digital agencies in Kenya, marketing data Kenya, design courses in Kenya.
From our studies and research, the primary reason for this is that there are far fewer people who are very good at designing and building great user experiences, especially ones you’re willing to pay as a consultant. In our own case, there are even fewer people who are valuable as both a UX consultant and are a top-notch developer. This means what we provide our clients is a lot more valuable — we know what can be done so we are not just drawing pretty pictures which may or may not be implementable. Which brings up the type of consulting a UX designer can charge the most for.
Understanding the code, the architecture, the underlying database schema, etc., all of that is integrated into the thinking and planning from the beginning of a project. It’s not an afterthought, and that means that a UX designer can save a client a lot of development time implementing the changes.
One other important point. When we do development consulting, a project is weeks to months. When we do user experience consulting, a project is hours to weeks. Our shortest UX gig has been 1/2 a day. You can bet a UX designer can charge a lot more per hour on such a gig! The fixed costs of acquiring the gig, dealing with the accounting department, delivering a follow-up report, etc, are always a much bigger part of the project than normal, and none of that is included in the hourly rate. Don’t you still believe UX designers get more that programmers?
Besides the gigs. We always say that one of the most important thing a consultant should do is to leave when the job is done. Completely done.
